The Major General Carl G. Farrell Recreation Area was dedicated in September, 2001 in memory of MG Carl G. Farrell, The Adjutant General of Indiana from 1986-1989. The area incorporates 25 acres containing a stocked seven-acre lake and a 20-by-40 foot covered shelter house with a two-tier charcoal barbecue grill. Paddle boats and docks are also located on the lake, as are several picnic tables. The MG Farrell Recreation Area displays a nature preserve in its own right, and chances are good that visitors will see a wide variety of wildlife. Deer, wild turkeys, and raccoons are common, as are coyote and red and gray fox. Even the most casual observer will recognize an enormous variety of birds! The Recreation Area is also the proud home of newly-built cabins. These secluded cabines have two bedrooms, a full kitchen, dining room, living room, and patio. Amenities include a washer and dryer, TV/VCR, and gas fireplace, and all cabins have lake access. To reserve a Cabin, you must call the Reservations Desk at (812) 526-1128.
Reservations are confirmed approximately 14 days prior to the reservation date. Availability is limited.
